Another Beefheart album gets the Record Store Day treatment by Rhino/Warner.
For release on 20 April 2024 will be The Spotlight Kid (Deluxe Edition), which means a second disc of outtakes from those sessions is included. There will be 7000 copies on 140g ‘milky clear’ vinyl.

As can be seen only three of these bonus tracks are previously unreleased although many fans will have heard these via the bootleg Spotlight Kid sessions collection. The other six tracks have already been released as part of the bonus disc on the Sun Zoom Spark boxset. Shame about the duplication as there are other tracks that could have been released for the first time … perhaps they’re saving them for later RSD releases.

It depends which version you’re after. There are plenty of the original cd release of the two-fer – Spotlight Kid and Clear Spot on the same disc available cheaply on ebay. Other versions of Clear Spot are also on sale there but can be silly prices.
