9 June 2019: The beefheart.com website has recently broken and we are currently, slowly fixing it. Please bear with us over the next few weeks as we patch it all up and bring back everything that you had before. At the moment some of the following are not working:

  • Some of the navigation is wrong and has made some sections inaccessible.
  • Some of the collections of types of content have become a messy jumble.
  • Some code is visible on certain pages.
  • Some embedded videos aren’t visible (mostly fixed now – if I’ve missed any please let me know).

Nothing’s lost, everything will be available again properly soon with many improvements over what we had before it broke. Thanks for your patience.

There’s so many things to feel and see while you’re awake…

Don Van Vliet / Captain BeefheartCombining elements of free jazz, blues and rock, Captain Beefheart and His Magic Band produced what is commonly regarded by critics and fans as one of rock’s few truly original bodies of work.

Don Van Vliet (aka Captain Beefheart) retired from the music industry after 1982’s Ice Cream For Crow album to concentrate on his primary love – paint.

The Radar Station is a purely fan-run site which aims to document every twist and turn in the tale of this unique individual.
