  2. Big fan of both Beefheart and Anton Corbijn (since the Headhunter video). Shall I tell you what Don had? He wasn’t contrived in being weird, he was just weird, a stray from convention, jibing of it all, lying through his arse in mockery of it all. This is why he found ‘A Day In The Life’ to be ridiculously current to its time. Don was a natural born wanderer, like Mark E Smith, too fly to fit anywhere, and making their own homes within the mocking of it, and with Don, the juxtaposition of nature as a reference justification for the mocking. Don was never a star, more a man full of psychic energy that paraded his own inability to fit in a lunatic world.
