Well well well well
Why do you taste so well?
Oh no no no
That ain’t the kind of smell
Sky ain’t blue, we’re living in hell
Well well well well well
Well well well well
The grounds need attending
And you aren’t attending to them well
Well well well well
Why do you taste so well?
You don’t taste so well
You don’t taste so well
Well well well well
Who poisoned you?
Well well well well
You don’t taste anymore so well
You don’t taste anymore so well
Well well well well well well
The grounds need attending to
And you aren’t treating them well
Well well well well well
Why do you wanna be poisoned, well?
You used to taste so well
You used to taste so well
Taste so well
Taste so well
Captain Beefheart: Doesn’t taste so well anymore does it ,Rockette Morton?
Rockette Morton: No, not too good
(1970)
Transcribed by Ben Waters
This track probably dates from 1970 and is a ‘Decals’ outtake; whether it was ever intended for release is unknown.
It is almost certainly written by Mark Boston (Rockette Morton) who does the vocals. There’s even a ‘Trout Mask’ like verbal exchange between him and the Captain at the end.
