Steal Softly Thru Snow lyrics

The black paper between a mirror breaks my heart
The moon frayed thru dark velvet lightly apart
Steal softly thru sunshine
Steal softly thru snow
The wild goose flies from winter
Breaks my heart that I can’t go
Energy flys thru a field
‘n the sun softly melts a nothing wheel
Steal softly thru sunshine
Steal softly thru snow
The black paper between a mirror breaks my heart that I can’t go
The swan their feathers don’t grow
They’re spun
They live two hundred years of love
They’re one
Breaks my heart to see them cross the sun
Grain grows rainbows up straw hill
Breaks my heart to see the highway cross the hill
Man lived a million years ‘n still he kills
The black paper between a mirror
Breaks my heart that I can’t go
Steal softly thru sunshine
Steal softly thru snow

(1969)

  1. I am an artist who has been listening to Dons’ work since Safe As Milk but a few months ago I decided to start trying to interpret the music in a visual concept, my first attempt ( Flavor Bud Living) can now be viewed online at saatchionline under my name Patrick Hillard any comments would be greatly appreciated.

  2. Hi all, the second in my planned series celebrating Dons’ work is now available to view at saatchionline. The song I chose is ” The Past Sure is Tense”. Perhaps our administrator will post a link as I am not sure if I am allowed. As before all comments gratefully received.

    1. Hi Patrick, just checked out the website and paintings – very cool stuff! I found the one you did of “Dazed and Confused” very interesting because I recently did a little write-up of one of Page’s performances where he played the song. I likened the main riff to a giant python slowly winding its way up a tree. So when I saw your painting with all its winding serpent-like shapes, I immediately thought “great minds think alike!” :-)
