Radar Station Overview

A full colour glossy sleeve for this double vinyl release of the 1974 Drury Lane and 1980 Paris shows (both of which are incomplete) plus the addition of the Direct News interview. The name ‘Beefheart’ only appears quite discreetly at the bottom right corner.

The labels are quite basic being white with a bright green sticker on them. This does however indicate that the album is a limited edition of 500 (if you can believe what bootleggers say!)

Not sure what the cover’s about – a moody shot in muted browns and oranges across a lake with hills and a castle. The back cover does have a great photograph of Don almost certainly taken at the 1980 show. K. Acker is credited with the photos.

Thanks go to Stewart Morrison for letting us know that the castle pictured on the cover is of Scotland’s most photographed castle “Eilean Donan Castle” on Loch Duich in the north west highlands. It still doesn’t explain the Beefheart connection though, but here’s a another photo of it:

I presume there are only 500. I have a similar bright green sticker, mine is numbered 172/500. I really should scan them and include on here.

  2. I have no green lables on mine. On side 2 and 4 it says No. 4/500. Looks like written with a pencil.
Can someone please tell me wich band he is playing whit and where this is recorded?
