Has anyone ever talked in-depth with Beefheart's old girlfriend, Laurie, to get her perspective on the Don Vliet that she knew during the '60s and the Trout period?

That would be one very different perspective apart from the band, the music industry insiders, the fans, etc. She obviously saw the raw Beefheart in private and in public, and must know the truth about the guy.

If interviews are conducted to obtain info for the new book, please attempt to interview her. I think this would very different, very fresh relative to most of the info that is currently available.

This is a good suggestion. However, I don’t have the facilities to locate her. I have tried to do searches on her name on the Internet and have come up with nothing. It has been at least 28 years since I have actually seen her. She was later married to Mark Boston for a short time, perhaps a year or so. I had a great deal of affection for her.
