The nominations were made by 'an academy of of online and music
industry profesionals', however the winners in each category are chosen by the
general public through an online voting form.
The results will be announced on 7th October at an awards ceremony
at the House Of Blues in Los Angeles and will be beamed out live on the Internet.
I'm
shocked and stunned, basically - this isn't one of your ten-a-penny scam awards
sites, this is the real thing and I'm proud as punch. Artists Direct own UBL and
iMusic and are getting bigger - this is the Grammies / Brits of the internet.
The voting is now over. Many thanks to all of you that have voted
and encouraged others to do the same, much appreciated. I don't expect the site
will win - it's up against Pearl Jam and Metallica for some reason and I'm certain
there are more Pearl Jam fans out there than there are Beefheart fans. It has,
however, been a fun experience just to see the Captain listed along with all the
corporate big knobs. One Radar Station visitor said it reminded her of the Sesame
Street sequence - 'which of these things is not like the others...'.
If the Radar Station does win, I get an all expenses paid trip
to LA to collect the award. Naturally, I'll request that The Blimp is played during
the ceremony at punishing volume - nothing less would do.
